GSA Elections Call for Applications

UCR GSA 2024-2025 Elections are here!

GSA is seeking applications for seven Elected Officer positions for 2024-2025. All are paid positions through which you will be able to represent the interests of graduate students at UCR. If you enjoy advocacy and community service we encourage you to apply!

The positions that will be open for election are:

  • President – The President is our primary representative. Among other responsibilities, the President supervises the rest of the officers and is in charge of organizing our montlhy meetings, acting as the main spokesperson for the Graduate Student Association.
  • Vice President of External Affairs (VPEA) – The VPEA is the second in rank of the Graduate Student Association. In this position, you would act as GSAUCR’s official representative to the University of California Graduate and Professional Council (UCGPC), or its equivalent, attend all UCGPC meetings; and provide monthly updates to GSC, among other duties.
  • Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) – The VPAA is in charge of maintaining regular communication with the departmental GSAs, ensuring that all are active and in good standing, acting as GSA’s main representative in all academic related matters.
  • Vice President of Internal Affairs (VPIA) – The VPIA assists the President in the executive and administrative functions of the GSA. They also participate in the recruitment process of the GSA liaisons, serving as a point of communication with the campus departments affiliated with them, among other resposabilities.
  • Vice President of Public Relations (VPPR) – The VPPR is responsible for publicizing all GSA programs and activities, as well as other relevant information such as system-wide and state-wide issues that impact the graduate student population. The VPPR also organizes important events for the graduate community such as the Grad Bash!
  • Finance Officer and Grant Writer – The Finance Officer serves as liaison between the GSA President and other members of the GSC regarding the budgetary policy and assists the PResident in the preparation of the yearly budget.
  • Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (GSHIP) Officer – The GSHIP officer serves as the GSA liaison to the UCR Student Health Center, reporting to the rest of the graduate community on the status of graduate student insurance.

Applications will be due April 1st 2024.

Please note that all applicants must be full-time students in good academic standing, and applicants for President, VPEA, VPAA, VPIA and Finance Officer positions must have a minimum of 6 months of experience with GSA (departmental reps and committee members qualify).
