APPLY BEFORE JUNE 9 | UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement's VOICE Initiative

Happy Friday folks!

I wanted to pass along this opportunity from the UC Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement. They are accepting applications for 2023 VOICE fellowships, which are awarded up to $5,000. These projects revolve around free speech issues (perhaps you have a speaker you would like to bring to campus), and issues of civic engagement (how do we train students to be civically engaged/ how do we enhance civic engagement/ voting turnout/ civic movements/ etc.)

I am happy to share my experience applying for the fellowship if anyone is interested. I highly encourage folks to apply! The center is wonderful!

Best, Valeria

UCR 39th Annual Powwow this weekend

Hello, my name is Jessica Gutierrez Masini. I am a current graduate student here at UC Riverside as well as the Volunteer Coordinator for the UCR Powwow.

What is a powwow?
Powwows are intertribal social gatherings open to the public that celebrate Native American cultures, and are centered around dances, songs, foods, and oral histories.

The UCR Powwow will take place Memorial Day weekend Friday May 27th, Saturday May 28th, and Sunday May 29th, 2022 so we will need volunteers all day, each day, as well as help on Thursday, May 26th (Prep Day).

This powwow is ENTIRELY student-run and in the past we have attracted over 1000 visitors, dancers, drummers/singers, and vendors. To make this event a success we need volunteers. Sign up below 👇 if interested. Even if you can’t volunteer please come by and enjoy awesome Native food, music, shopping, and more.
